A DAY IN THE LIFE OF AN IDOL
Everyone is curious to what the day of an Idol trainee looks like. Well if not everyone, I definitely am. I imagine strenuous training, in and out of dance classes, singing lessons, fan meet ups, little time to rest or eat, sounds like pure chaos. After reading several stories and diving into the blackhole of youtube, here is my personal summary on what a Day In The Life Of An Idol looks like:
Morning:
-
5AM - wake up call in the shared houses of the idol trainees. Many trainees and groups live in share houses/dorms making it easier to commute to their meetings and lessons.
-
5.15AM - Some form of exercise. Majority of trainees place a lot of pressure on their weight and appearance, this results in them working out up to 5 times a day!
-
6AM - Korean School - Korean based idol would have to attend korean school before normal classes every morning, often resulting in them skipping breakfast.
-
7AM - Standard classes - Since the youngest idol trainees are between the ages of 12 - 13 they still attend normal schooling
-
7AM - 3PM - Majority of blogs comment that their lives felt particularly normal whilst at school, it involved attending class and hanging out with friends.
Afternoon:
-
3PM - Go to company building - Right after school finished, trainees would go straight to their companies building to meet their groups and eat lunch
-
4PM - Training - This would often involve singing, dancing, modeling, acting and a language of their choice. Since the majority of trainees specialise in rapping, dancing or vocals, majority of their training session would focus on their specialised area. Training sessions usually were around 3 hours long. Majority of trainees are often weighed everyday to ensure their weight doesn’t fluctuate. Some other classes include:
-
Language: Korean, Japanese, Chinese and English
-
Manners: How to act in front of elders and media
-
Dancing. Vocals, Rapping, Acting, Modelling
-
Evening:
-
8PM - Dinner - After the compulsory classes were finished, groups would either meet up for dinner or go back to the dorms to study or eat. However, majority would stay at company buildings and continue to rehearse or work out
-
12AM - Home Time - Trainees will return to their dorms to study or sleep.
This is a somewhat shocking discovery that the life of an Idol trainee is so heavily scheduled and jam packed. I did have a small understanding that there would be a lot of training, meetings and appearances, but not to this extent. It goes to show that the Life of an Idol trainee requires a lot of determination and commitment.
